The ways of engine braking include exhaust braking, air release braking and compression release braking. The engine adopts compression release braking mode, and its working mode is as follows:
When there is no braking, the brake solenoid valve is powered off and some parts cannot be filled with oil. When the engine runs to the position of the brake boss (that is, when the piston is close to the top dead center), the top block of the exhaust valve only needs to overcome the spring force in the plunger. At this time, the brake boss on the camshaft does not work and will not push the exhaust valve. The engine works normally.
Structure of exhaust rocker arm assembly: when braking is needed, turn on the engine brake switch, press the brake pedal, and ECU controls the fuel system to stop supplying oil. At this time, the brake solenoid valve is powered on and opened, and the oil from the auxiliary oil passage in the rocker arm shaft covers the oil inlet passage on the rocker arm bushing and the auxiliary oil passage of the rocker arm, and enters the brake plunger chamber of the brake; when the oil in the brake chamber reaches a certain pressure, the plunger is controlled to go up, and the check valve is closed, so that the brake chamber is filled with oil. Because the engine oil is incompressible, when the engine runs to the brake boss position (that is, when the piston is close to the top dead center), the brake boss on the camshaft lifts up the exhaust valve rocker roller, and the brake exhaust valve top block pushes open the exhaust valve under the force of the brake plunger exhaust valve rocker arm to discharge part of the high-pressure gas. When the piston goes down, the exhaust valve closes, and the engine is in the driving system of the whole vehicle Driven to do negative work (equivalent to the top of the piston vacuum), so as to achieve the compression of the engine, release the brake. The higher the engine speed is, the greater the braking power is.
